In an age of environmental desperation and ‘green-washed’ architecture solutions, buildings are suffering the wrath of green ignorance and consumerism. High-tech green solutions and government subsidies for alternative technologies are shifting the construction industries towards a future of inefficiency and wastefulness – an approach which could end up doing more harm to environment than good. Can Minimalist Green Architecture be the antidote?

There are many ‘green’ construction principles being passed around these days as magic solutions for the impending climate chaos, but very few are actual solutions, more seem like commercially labeled alternatives to the same old products and techniques. Clay Field’s in Suffolk, a recent low-cost housing scheme is a perfect example of what sustainable architecture should be like today.

It is no secret that 50% of all resources consumed across the planet are used in construction making it the least sustainable industry in the world. But this also means that it is the industry that can have the biggest impact when it comes to fighting climate change. What if there was a building material that was made entirely from a renewable source, can capture CO2, and can provide incredible thermal properties without the need to use separate insulation?
