We love projects that ‘recycle’ material in clever and ingenious ways. The idea behind the TuboHotel is simple. Use reclaimed concrete pipes and turn them into rooms for a unique hotel retreat. The idea is new as is clear by Andreas Strauss’ Dasparkhotel project – allegedly the first hotel made from reclaimed concrete pipes
Located in Tepoztlán, Mexico, it overlooks the Sierra del Tepozteco. This eco hotel is made of three volumes of concrete tubes stacked on top of each other, in order to gain as much space as possible and provide some structural stability. The first three tubocretos modules and the placement plan were done by T3arc, while the construction of the rest of the modules remained in the hands of the hotel, which suggests the modules are easy to assemble. Part of a recent trend in eco-responsible tourism in Mexico, the TuboHotel covers 220 square meters and it took 3 months to complete. So next time you find yourself in the Sierra del Tepozteco, make sure you check these guys out for some eco-friendly stylish accommodation.
