Here is another interesting example of the potential for using wood pallets in contemporary design. Whether its environmentally friendly or just practical, the notion of re-using discarded materials in buildings seems to be a bit of a trend these days. It certainly makes for some interesting spaces, and the planet benefits… according to the architect…
‘…the shipping pallets are “characterized by a complex geometry of open and closed surface portions,” with the effect that a staggered stacking of each unit produces “interesting net-like structures.” They add that the deceptively curvilinear form becomes a cave.’
